Weekly Review:" I'm Moving forward Yall"

First of all I would like to take the time and say thank you to everyone who has been commenting on my blog WR post. I do read each and everyone of your comments. Now for this weeks review I just want to say I aint doing so shabby. I got all of my work in but I still not wanting next week to come because that means more work. I gotta say if I would have know life in general would be somewhat complicated I would have really paid attention more. I mean I am a good student but sometimes I feel like not paying attention to somethings and just slacking. However I know when I do this it puts me in a hot seat. I'm still tired btw. I kinda want to do like sleeping beauty ←(If you get my drift). As for my drama class that class is very stressful like no joke. I think that when it comes to acting you do have to go in and out of your emotions but for some of us going into our emotions can lead us to some dark places that we won't be able to come out of. So I know now that my goal stands...

Growth Mindset: Week 12

In the article “ A troubling side effect of Praise ” it said “After each round that the child guessed correctly, one-third of them were praised for their ability, being told, “You are so smart” by the researcher. Another third were praised for their effort or performance: “You did very well this time.” The final third—the baseline group—received no praise. After the fifth round, the researcher left the room for one minute after asking the child not to peek at the last card. A hidden camera observed whether the child cheated or not. Sixty percent of the children who were praised for ability cheated. Among children who were praised for effort, 41 percent peeked, and 40 percent of the baseline children did. Although 40 percent may seem like a high baseline, research suggests that young children lack the self-control and planning skills necessary to resist the temptation to peek”. I believe this happened because the child that was being praised wanted to stay being praised. Its like after...

Wikipedia trails: From "The Joy luck club" to "Chinese people"

This week on my wiki trail i decided to look up the The Joy Luck Club novel . Which it said its a novel that was written by Amy Tan in 1989. The book is about four women that are chinese american immigrants and their families who are in san francisco and they start a club called the joy luck club. In the joy luck club they come together to play Mahjong for money. Mahjong is a very fun game once you learn how to play it if I may add in there. It also talks about how the book it structure like a mahjong game. Next I clicked on   Chinese American which on that page it talked about descendants of the chinese ancestry but also american born.Wiki said that “ The Chinese American community is the largest overseas Chinese community outside Asia . It is also the third largest community in the Chinese diaspora, behind the Chinese communities in Thailand and Malaysia ” I thought that this was very interesting because I didn't know this. Now that's something new I've learned this w...

Project 2: Revision

In the stories “ The Creation” and “ Coyote Cooks his Daughter”  there is a big theme of trust that is portrayed in both stories. I feel that both show a great amount of trust between friendship and family. “The Creation” is about a couple of friends Earthmaker, Coyote, and Meadowlark who go on a journey creating Earth. On this journey they all help each other and trust each other's decisions when it comes to making the planet. Now in “ Coyote Eats his Daughter” it's  about how a daughter is eaten by her own father. Trust is the most important thing between any relationship if you can't trust someone then you don't have any stability of Truth to rely on in which both of these stories uses a great amount of theme and tone to discuss the ways of how trust can be looked upon. The tone of “The Creation”  is very friendly because you have these friends who go all around trying to create land  and they're doing it together. In the story tone helps set the theme of t...

Week 12 Analysis:"The Joy Luck Club"

In the story The Joy Luck Club I thought that Lindo’s Red Candle showed great symbolism. I say this because when Lindo Jong gets married her and her husband light a red candle and supposably the name of the Bride is on one end and the name of the husband is on the other. It is said that if the candle stays lit the entire night  without going out then their marriage will be successful but if the candle goes out then their marriage will be unsuccessful and not happy. But Lindo does not want to being married to him but she's also in a bind because she doesn't want to break the promise she made with her own parents. I thought that she was Brave because she ended up blowing out the candle herself however there was a servant who ended up lighting the candle again. Overall I think that this candle symbolizes two things. First  symbolizes the culture of the Chinese marriage because it's a way to decide whether it will be successful or unsuccessful union. But I also think that it...

Reading Notes Week 12: "The Joy Luck Club" Part B

For reading the Joy Luck Club “Lindo Jong the Red Candle”She seemed to have this type of sureness of herself. There is a word for this kind of sing but at the moment I can't really think of it. But this is what she said“I wipe my eyes and looked in the mirror. I was surprised at what I saw. I had on a beautiful red dress, but what I saw was even more valuable. I was strong. I was pure. I had genuine thoughts inside that no one could see, that no one could ever take away from me, I was like the wind.I threw my head back and  smiled proudly to myself. and then I draped a large embroidered red scarf over my face and covered these thoughts up. but underneath the scarf I still knew who I was.I made a promise to myself: I would always remember my parents wishes, but I would never forget myself”(58).After reading this quote she does seem like a strong woman because even in the bad times and all the hardships she will always keep her head up and keep her promise to herself. I don't kn...

Reading Notes Week 12: "The Joy Luck Club" Part A

The books that have chosen to read is “ the Joy Luck Club”. I've chosen  to read this story because I've heard a lot about it but I've never taken the time to actually read it so I thought this might be a good time to do it. In the beginning of the story it starts off with “ Jing-Mei Woo,  The Joy Luck Club”. Jing-mei starts off by telling us that her mother Suyuan had died two months ago. But the way this was said is what really caught my attention. She said “My father thinks she was killed by her own thoughts. She had a new idea inside her head... but before I could come out of her mouth, the thought grew too big and burst. It must have been a very bad idea. The doctor said she died of a cerebral aneurysm. And her friends at the Joy Luck Club said she died just like a rabbit: quickly and with unfinished business left behind”(19). This part caught my attention because I think it's funny how the father and the friends of the Joy Luck Club talked about her death in di...
