Wikipedia trails: From "The Joy luck club" to "Chinese people"

This week on my wiki trail i decided to look up the The Joy Luck Club novel. Which it said its a novel that was written by Amy Tan in 1989. The book is about four women that are chinese american immigrants and their families who are in san francisco and they start a club called the joy luck club. In the joy luck club they come together to play Mahjong for money. Mahjong is a very fun game once you learn how to play it if I may add in there. It also talks about how the book it structure like a mahjong game. Next I clicked on  Chinese American which on that page it talked about descendants of the chinese ancestry but also american born.Wiki said that “The Chinese American community is the largest overseas Chinese community outside Asia. It is also the third largest community in the Chinese diaspora, behind the Chinese communities in Thailand and Malaysia” I thought that this was very interesting because I didn't know this. Now that's something new I've learned this week. So after learning that I clicked on Chinese which lead me to the page chinese people. I found a lot of facts about the chinese people and their history and learned a lot about the overseas chinese. So because of that i clicked on Overseas Chinese which wiki stated they “ are people of ethnic Chinese birth or descent who reside outside the territories of Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. Although a vast majority are Han Chinese, the group represents virtually all ethnic groups in China”. I love the chinese culture because of their history and art. I find any asian culture fascinating because it's different from ours.

  1. Hi Alesha. I see that you are very interested in the Chinese culture, that is great. I also did not know that the Chinese are the third largest community in the Chinese diaspora. behind the Chinese communities in Thailand and Malaysia. Does this mean that there are a lot of Chinese in Thailand and Malaysia? I know there are a lot of Chinese in the Philippines. I enjoyed reading your post. Thanks for sharing.
