For my first topic that I have chosen to “Compare and contrast elements of two different texts. For example, explore the similarities and differences between two characters in the texts, or examine how one theme is handled in similar and dissimilar ways in two different texts". I have chosen this topic because I love to compare and contrast things and when you take two different stories and compare the elements to each other there's always a similarity no matter how small it is and I love finding those. I have a load of previous knowledge when it comes to comparing and contrasting different text because in high school every time we read a new book we always compared and contrasted it to the previous books that we read. What I would like to learn from his assignment is how to improve my way of finding evidence and putting up a bigger argument. A majority of the time I would just do the simple things so that I don't have to stress about issues depending upon what text I'm reading or book.
Well for the second topic I have chosen “Pick a subject: love, work, freedom, etc. Then choose two selections and discuss how that subject is discussed in those selections. Use literary devices to help frame your discussion”. Now I have choosing this topic because like I said in the previous paragraph I love discussing two different texts and comparing them to each other. I also feel that using literary devices to help with your argument or discussion will help your writing improve at a very high level. When doing this helps the reader dissect the content of the text easily. So by using these literary devices some people may have the same views you and some people may have different views but it helps with the understanding of the reading a little bit more than just summarizing what happened in the story. I think what I will learn from this topic is how not to just summarize my work and actually dissect the work and understand what's going on besides surface understanding.
As for the third topic I’ve chosen “Choose a reading selection. Explore the relationship between elements of the selection. For example: how does setting influence character development?” I have chosen this will my third topic because I feel as if the elements of a text or reading can make or break the story. I say this because as a hero in a story do you have to go through hardships and the place that they come from in the police that they're going to always tells you how they came up.Just by the smallest of elements like theme plot point of you can change the entire story from the eyes of someone else. This is the part that I like the most because I love hearing other people's ideas when it comes to different points of views. Even though someone may think that Cinderella’s story was a happy ending others may think it was the worst ending ever. I think what I can learn from this topic is how old to use bigger and bolder elements when describing a text instead of the basic once.
Lastly for my fourth topic I chose to “Think about a theme you see running through your life (failure is the best lesson, love is eternal, etc). Choose a reading that you think also discusses this theme (even if it reaches different conclusions about it). Explore connections between how the theme plays out in your life, and how the theme gets played out in the reading”. So far this last topic I chose it because I love reading stories or text that are similar to my life experiences. It kind of gives you that wholesome feeling like you're not alone in this world and other things can happen to people too. I love making connections between different text and if I'm making a comparison or contrast between me and a text it can get pretty interesting because my mindset in the way out here is raised to be different from how a character's mindset is and how they were raised. So it's always good to make connections between stories in real life even though some of those stories actually did happen. I love themes of stories Shakespeare happened to be my favorite and all of his things are just amazing hands down. Basically an overall what I think I can learn from this topic is more about myself and more about other people and how their lives are influence or impacted by others.
