Introduction to Me
Hello my name is Alesha Daniels and my long-term career goal is to become an English teacher and teach in South Korea. I want to teach in South Korea because I think that it could be a new adventure for me and somewhere abroad away from the US. I love the Korean culture, the language, the food, and the music. Before that I have to complete my 60 credits at LMC Community College and then I plan on transferring to UC Berkeley and completing 30 credits there so that I can graduate and get my English degree. In the course of doing that I plan on volunteering at different schools and maybe become a substitute teacher at the same time after I get my AA because when applying for English teaching jobs in Korea the more experience you have the closer you will be put towards the cities and the better job opportunities you will get. You may be asking why South Korea but like I put up above the language, food, and the music is what really pulled me in. The Korean language has an alphabet like English so it kind of clicks in my brain a little better than other languages and that happened to be one of the reasons why I started learning it other than the fact that the language sounds so beautiful and learning how to sing songs in Korean. Second the food is amazing to be honest the 김치전 (kimchi jeon) and 김치 찌개 (kimchi jjigae) is what hooked me in. If you ever go to a korean restaurant order that and lord will your taste buds melt. In addition even though I had my doubts about moving to Korea which is very far away from my family there was one girl in particular that help me make my decision and want to explore. That girl's name is Megan Bowen aka “저는 미국사람입니다”. She makes learning Korean and learning about the culture so amazing. When you start watching her videos you can't help but want to at least visit Korea. Lastly the music sounds really good. In the Korean culture the biggest music genre is K-pop. Over the years I have like many different groups songs but BTS overall my favorite Korean group. Their music is so inspiring and it makes you want to just accomplish all of your goals and become a better you and love yourself more. They happened to be another reason why I actually decided to I want to go to Korea. Korea was not always on the top of my list there were other countries and languages that I had started learning first. However I've always known that I wanted to live abroad so that goal has never changed in my mind. So because I love the culture so much that's my long-term goal which is to become an English teacher and teacher in Korea for the rest of my days.
HI Alesha!! I enjoyed reading your blog post learning about you. I think that is really cool that you want to teach English in South Korea, becoming a substitute teacher I think would be a great idea in the meantime and you would be able to gain a lot of experience. Thanks for the facts about Korean Culture, I didn't know any of that before and I found it very interesting to read.
ReplyDeleteHi Alesha! You have a great introduction and gives a lot of information about your goal and why you chose it. I have a cousin that speaks three languages and loves traveling the world. She is an English teacher, teaching students in China, English. She teaches from her laptop and from many different places in the world. She loves her job teaching and wants to move to China to teach in person. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHi Alesha, wow it is amazing that you want to move to a different country. I do admit that the Korean language sounds beautiful. I also like some of the food. I have no idea what the country Korea is like though. It is very brave of you to move there with no family there. I wish you the best.
ReplyDeleteHi, Alesha!
ReplyDeleteYou have such a beautiful goal! Since I'm an international student I completely understand the feeling of being in a different place, far away from family and scared. However, it is incredible when we have the courage to achieve our goals no matter what it takes. As time passes, things start becoming easier and better. And we feel proud of ourselves! I wish you the best in your dreams and goals. I bet your future in South Korea will be bright and joyous.
Btw, I have lots of friends who love BTS. They are a thing everywhere, even in my country lol. I'm not a k-pop fan, but I used to like some songs of Miss A. And BLACKPINK, too
